Last year, my mother sent me a package that contained, amongst other things, my very first romance novel. Well, novel may be overstating it. It was a two-paged story with what I think you will agree are some incredibly questionable margins. But you may also see a sneak peek into the developing mind of Jess Michaels (a stern man, a broken lady? UM HELLO!!). So I give you:
The Beautiful Woman
There once was a beautiful woman and she was lonely. She lived on top of a hill. She loved a man but he already had a girl to marry. One day she heard scratching at her door. She opened the door. There sat a lonely looking kitten.
“Hello,” she said, smiling to the kitten.
She let it in and named it Honey. Because it was honey colored. Just as the kitten was finishing its milk the doorbell rang. The beautiful woman walked to the door and opened it up. There stood a tall, stern-looking man. He cleared his throat and said, “Have you seen a honey colored kitten??”
When he saw the cat he said, smiling, “Yes, this is the one.”
The woman began to cry. The man saw and said, “How about we get married so you and me and the kitten will never be lonely again.
So they got married and lived happily ever after and if they have died they are still happy.
The End.

It ends a little darkly there and I may have rushed the romance a little. But still… not a bad start.
