On Monday, my husband and I went to the new house we just bought and did the inspection and had the contractors come for some renovations we’ll be doing once we close. It was a whirlwind couple of days with a long drive up and back (6 hours total) and then the long day at the house. On Tuesday, An Affair in Winter (Seasons 1) released. At some point, I was talking to my husband about doing a garage sale and he said, “We Are Not Doing Everything at Once.”
What a powerful thing to say. What a powerful thing to remember. I put myself on such a strict schedule (it’s the only way to write and publish as often as I do) and I put a lot of pressure on myself to never vary from that schedule. Sometimes, when something unexpected (like buying the house so quickly) comes up, I forget that what he said is true.
I don’t have to do everything at once.
So the garage sale is put off to another weekend, I feel like I’ve plotted enough to get my next book started, I don’t have to pack the entire house today. I don’t have to do everything at once.
Smart guys, isn’t he? I’ll take him into the whirlwind with me anytime.
